ABOUT
In 2004, Tensile Cables was formed within its sister company Tension Structures, which was founded in 1993. Tension Structures is practiced and adept at working as a key member of a client’s building team, to design and build long-span and large custom tensile fabric structures.
In 2009, Tensile Cables expanded to form our own company and became the market leader in designing and supplying architectural and structural stainless steel cable systems in Southern Africa.
Tensile Cables has established our expertise in the construction, architecture, design and landscaping industries, specialising in balustrading, cables trellising, bracing and suspension cable systems, among others.
Still working very closely with Tension Structures’ specialist engineering team on all technically challenging projects for engineering analysis and input, our years of experience in the industry and constant pursuit of industry leading innovation provides our customers with the highest quality product and service. Using these expertise, Tensile Cables is able to optimise the design of every cable system.
MEET THE TEAM
KEN PRICE PrEng, FIStrucE, FICE, BSc(Eng)(Hons), DIC, PhD, CEng
After completing his PhD at Imperial College in London, and gaining work experience in the UK, Kenya and Australia, Ken returned to South Africa to continue his career in structural engineering. In 1993 Ken established Tension Structures introducing the concept of Tensile Fabric Structures to South Africa. He has 40 years of experience in the field of Structural Engineering and is our head design engineer for all projects.
CRAIG SHEPHERD
Craig is the factory manager and has been with Tensile Cables since 2012. Having done numerous installations with our sister company Tension Structures, he has a great understanding of installation methods and works hand-in-hand with our clients to offer the best solutions for their project requirements. He is able to absorb the pressure of challenges and looks forward to those which may present in new projects ahead.
